Culture

Welcome to “Berlin of North Karelia”

In Outokumpu, culture is present in everyday life and celebrations. The mining company supported cultural life, the managers collected fine art, and the mining company paid a salary to the brass band. Of course, the company also had its own police and pipe.

Outokumpu has a reputation as a cultural city where new things are created. New events and assemblies are born, and especially the Old Mine with its jaggedness attracts artists.

Education in theatre, dance, visual arts and the media industry brings new artists and vibrancy to the city every year. The international artist residency attracts artists from all over the world and the artists’ performances can be enjoyed all year round.
