Wilderness in the palm of your hand

The Wilderness and Nature Center is a compact nature destination that is suitable for active enthusiasts or those who just enjoy the beauty of nature. Sandy beaches for swimming can be found at Särkiselkä. Multiple services are available; you can find a camping ground, a summer cafe, an equipment rental company and a camp center.

The area offers a variety of activities like hiking trails, a recreational fishing area, an accessible children’s fishing spot and a unique 12-lake kayaking tour. Everything is crowned by wonderful ridge and lake landscapes and diverse flora and fauna.

During the Summer months, the Kaunisniemi cafe is an active center, where you can get maps, rental equipment and tips for your day. Accommodation is offered by the Särkiselä campsite and the year-round Kolmikanta camping center.

Finland has everyman’s rights, which gives the right to move freely in nature. There are also responsibilities, such as not damaging trees or staying overnight with your own permission in places other than marked destinations.
