Outokumpu’s architecture is original. Over the course of almost a hundred years, a mining settlement was built around the copper mine, which was designed by the most famous architects in our country. With them, Outokumpu is a stage of construction according to different eras and style trends.

You can get to know the architecture by starting the tour from Kummunkatu road towards the old mine. Neighborhood of Kyykeri and Raivionmäki are both located next to the mine, whose idyllic streets you can ride on, for example, a bicycle borrowed from the mine.

Old Houses event has been organized since 2017 (by Itä-Suomen Kulttuuripolut ry). Homes and public buildings open their doors for visitors to discover and learn about how people live today next to the mine. The event includes public lectures and other side programs. Keep an eye on the 2023 event!
